Kajikawa's Barbershop and Museum

The quiet town of Misasa in Tottori holds a unique shop

The quiet town of Misasa in Tōhaku district, Tottori Prefecture, seems to be detached from modern civilisation. However, roaming the streets I discovered cool Japan doesn't refer to just modern pop culture. For something different and its own kind of cool, check out Kajikawa's Barbershop and Museum.

Among some of the treasures on display are an array of old American barber posters on display, 19th and 20th century Japanese and British barber chairs, early American antique shaving mugs, and even an old clock that goes backwards. The place is run by an elderly Japanese couple. The man a barber himself and a collector of all things related to barbering, used to live in America and speaks a decent amount of English!
