Stepping Inside Fushimi Inari Taisha – Video

A thousand wooden torii gates

Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine is located on the side of Mt. Inari is an UNESCO World Heritage site in Japan famed for its many torii gates; it is a “must-do” for anyone visiting Kyoto.

It was dedicated to Inari, god of rice and sake in the eighth century but now people come here to pray for success in business or protection from disaster; there are many fox statues here as they are thought to be Inari's messengers.

Walking the whole circuit takes about three hours, with the four kilometer track paved with thousands of red torii gates making their way through the woods, creating a tunnel effect.

This video is really nice. I've visited Fushimi Inari many times, and this video helped me imagine I was walking through the tunnels of red torii again!
